The Ora gained a five-star ANCAP safety rating in 2023.
The model, which had been tested for safety, child protection, vulnerable user protection, and safety-assist technologies, was noted by Euro NCAP as being among the cars that achieved the highest overall scores.
The standard range Ora comes with a suite of safety features, earning a five-star ANCAP rating. The only difference to the long-range variant is the battery size.
The Long Range variant has a larger battery than the Standard Range Ora. An additional trim (Ultra) is available that includes a hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, six-way electric driver’s seat with memory, front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions
The GT model comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, a distinctive grille and bumpers exclusive to the GT, an electric tailgate that can be opened hands-free, a panoramic sunroof, brake calipers in red, a six-way electric driver’s seat with memory function, a heated steering wheel, and automatic parking capability.
"It is rather difficult not to be entertained and impressed with the GWM Ora despite a few niggles. It’s funky and fun. GWM is on the rise in New Zealand, and the Ora is just another reason for buyers to sit up and take notice."
Good Cat? Does Ora’s first EV live up to its name?
"If you don't need the boot space in the back seat it's a no-brainer against the BYD dolphin. The BYD dolphin I think is a little bit better built and has a little bit more space in the back; but this offers more range and more specification for less money - dollar for dollar, spec for spec."

Ora Good Cat: is it good value?
"It's a very smart little car, but it's also very comfortable, very spacious great family car. What makes it even more tempting is that it is basically the same price as a great deal of hybrid hatchbacks. But you never ever have to go to a gas station ever again if you buy this car - unless of course, you want to buy an $8 pie."
